11 February is Safer Internet Day [5] (SID), the World Day for Internet Safety established by the European Commission to make young people think not only about the conscious use of the web but also about the active and responsible role of each individual in making the Internet a positive and safe place.

The slogan that has long accompanied it, Together for a Better Internet, emphasises how everyone's commitment is a prerequisite for a conscious and safe use of the web.

Here are some initiatives promoted by institutions, associations and others to invite young people to discuss the issue:

Ministry of Education and Merit and Generazioni Connesse:
A national event for schools broadcast live on www.generazioniconnesse.it [6] with the objective of reflecting on the risks and opportunities of the net with the protagonists of the school community themselves, youths and teachers, together with public and private stakeholders.

The ninth edition of the communication campaign Il mese della sicurezza in rete (Net Safety Month), an initiative inviting schools throughout Italy and project partners to carry out activities to disseminate the principles of positive use of the web and technological tools until 8 March.

Telefono Azzurro has organised two events: 
Un internet sicuro per tutti: proteggere le nuove generazioni nel mondo digitale (A safe internet for all: protecting the new generations in the digital world).

Rischi e opportunità del mondo digitale e dell’intelligenza artificiale per i bambini e gli adolescenti: un impegno comune per la tutela delle nuove generazioni (Risks and opportunities of the digital world and artificial intelligence for children and adolescents: a shared commitment to protecting the new generations). The programmes of the two meetings are available on Telefono Azzurro website [7].

Terre des Hommes Italy has taken actions to make people think about Safer Internet Day, disseminating the data of the survey of the Indifesa Observatory on the risks of the web according to generation Z. The results of the research are available on the website of the non-profit organisation [8].

Unicef has published a series of insights on its website covering various issues, including sharenting, bullying and cyberbullying. All materials are available in the “Sicurezza in rete” [9] (Safety in the net) section.
