Handwriting and Reading for Learning, an MiM–Einaudi Foundation Agreement [1]
Faced with the excess of digital stimuli to which the new generations are now exposed, with a possible decline in attention in concentration and reflection the Ministry of Education and Merit (MiM) and the Luigi Einaudi Foundation have signed a three-year Protocol of Understanding to promote the development of handwriting and reading skills as fundamental tools for learning and the cultivation of reflective thinking, balancing traditional knowledge and technological innovation.
With this agreement, MiM commits to disseminating the Protocol’s content among state and private schools at both the first and second education cycles, and will also involve regional education offices in implementing the initiatives. The Luigi Einaudi Foundation will conduct teacher training courses on the implications of excessive smartphone and video game use, and on the importance of reading on paper and handwriting to develop intellectual abilities, alongside awareness-raising initiatives targeting students and families.
