Harmonizing family and work time: a right and an opportunity for children
The legal study, starting with the analysis of the Directive of the European Parliament and the EU Council, 10 May 2023, no. 2023 /970 of 10 May 2023, aimed at strengthening the application of the principle of equal pay for men and women for equal work or work of equal value through transparency of pay, alongside its enforcement mechanisms, broadens the reflection and analysis on the instruments that contribute, directly or indirectly (such as equal pay), to rebalancing gender roles and work-life time and to the harmonization of time between family and professional life, a topic closely linked to the birth crisis that affects, in particular, our country.
Despite the fact that for several years now the EU institutions have been launching policies to reconcile family and work to the benefit of women in particular, historically the most penalized party in this respect, the rebalancing of gender roles and work-life time has remained a largely unsolved problem.
In fact, as emphasized by the European Commission in its Communication on Gender Equality Strategy 2020-2025, equality between men and women has not been achieved in any EU Member State. So much so that the achievement of concrete gender equality is one of the 17 sustainable development goals that states have committed to achieve by 2030.
Attached is an in-depth legal analysis on the topic Harmonizing family and work time.
