The seminar was organized by the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict, by the Social Science Research Council of New York and by the National Documentation and Analysis Centre for Childhood and Adolescence, under the aegis of the Italian Government.

The seminar led to the elaboration of an action plan for the study of the impact of armed conflict on children. Furthermore, it led to the creation of a network connecting institutions, in order for the study results to respond to cognitive needs and to be used for the elaboration of adequate policies.
