In an era marked by war, climate crisis, poverty and inequality, the younger generations pay the highest price, with children and adolescents in many countries experiencing deprivation and denied rights. World Children’s Day, which is celebrated on 20 November on the 36th anniversary of the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, calls for continued attention to the importance of policies that focus on young people and the full exercise of their rights.

In Italy, the anniversary is also marked by numerous initiatives: seminars, meetings, and conferences aimed at raising awareness and providing information on the rights of children and adolescents. Among the scheduled events is Crescere ed educare nell’era dell’intelligenza artificiale (Growing Up and Educating in the Age of Artificial Intelligence), a seminar organised by the Department for Family Policies of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, with the participation of institutional representatives and experts. Conferences organised by the Italian Ombudsperson for Children and Adolescents, as well as study sessions on key topics related to the promotion of young people’s rights, are also planned.

To further explore the theme of the Day, we highlight the following study materials selected by the Innocenti Library A.C. Moro: a bibliographic research on the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC); a bibliographic research on children’s rights; and a bibliographic research on girls’ rights.
