Access to information: between rights and protection. A legal framework
Ensuring access to safe, transparent and respectful information that promotes education, development and social, spiritual and moral well-being is a fundamental right of every child and adolescent.
The State and its institutions are, in fact, obliged to ensure that people under the age of eighteen are able to access, in a safe manner, the information necessary for the independent development of their own beliefs, while refraining from any action that might restrict that freedom.
The right to information, meaning the right to seek and receive information by all available means and tools, including through the mass media and social networks, is also instrumental to the full and informed exercise of the child's right to freely express his or her opinions.
