The Italian Ministry of Education and Merit and Caritas Italy have signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding to promote among young people the value of social solidarity and the creation of bonds of solidarity to build inclusive communities based on a culture of encounter.
By signing the agreement, the Ministry undertakes to inform primary and secondary educational institutions, both State and private, about the content of the document, and to involve the regional school offices and schools in implementing the initiatives organised by the two parties.
Caritas Italy undertakes, among other things, to promote actions aimed at enhancing the role of volunteering as a tool for participation and democracy within schools and local communities, and to plan, in agreement with schools, educational measures aimed at supporting a culture of respect and social co-responsibility.
The Memorandum of Understanding – entitled “Educare alla pace, alla mondialità, al dialogo, alla legalità e alla corresponsabilità attraverso la valorizzazione del volontariato e della solidarietà sociale” (Educating to Peace, Worldliness, Dialogue, Legality and Co-responsibility through the Enhancement of Volunteering and Social Solidarity) – can be consulted on the website of the Ministry of Education and Merit.
