The national project "A path in foster care" was launched in 2008 by the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Policy with the aim of relaunching the institution of family foster care and promoting knowledge and dissemination of successful factors and positive models in the field of family foster care in the country.
From a regulatory point of view, the project is linked to Law of 4 May 1983, No.184, amended by Law of 28 March 2001, No.149.
In order to support the project and identify the detailed organization of the activities and the planning of the implementation phases, a Steering Committee was set up, chaired by the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Policies and composed of representatives of the Department for Family Policies of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces, UPI, ANCI, the National Coordination of Foster Care Services and the National Documentation and Analysis Centre for Children and Adolescents.
